  The answer is sometimes. We know that a lot of melanomas ( skin cancer ) is caused by sun burns. So if we can prevent that we can prevent melanoma. We are currently trying to find out if we can pinpoint what happens to cause a skin cell to turn into a cancer cell and cause melanoma. Great Question!
