I write code that can compare one person’s DNA to another persons. Usually one of the people is sick and the other healthy. If I see a difference between the two, we can start to guess that the difference may cause disease.

I write codes in Python and R language to analyze gene expression data (20,000 genes expressed under 100s of different conditions) and genomes of plants.
Similar to Matthew comparing one person’s DNA to another person, I compare one plant’s DNA to another plant. In my case, the comparison includes one plant that survives harsh conditions and the other who cannot resist changes in environment. This helps me to identify genetic regions important for plant stress response.
