• Question: have you ever decided to see what genes are in your green tea

      That’s an interesting question!

      Yes, I wondered what type of genes are present in the green tea I drink everyday. When I first learned about DNA and genes, I wanted to know how genes/genomes are like in every species! You know, dogs, cats, parrot, you name it. However, gradually I realized that it might be more practical to study genes in model species, meaning the ones that are chosen to represent all the other species of similar kind. Mice, for example, is a model species for mammals (we’re mammals).

      So, I’m still interested in genes in my green tea, but I might not want to look into it since tea tree is not a model plant.
